We are working to implement upgrades to infrastructure for active transportation within the French Creek Growth Containment Boundary area of Electoral Area G. The completed project will be incorporated as an amendment to the Electoral Area G Official Community Plan Bylaw 1540, 2008 (OCP).

We have now reviewed the existing active transportation conditions, engaged the community and stakeholders to understand the barriers to using active transportation and discuss options for enhancements, and we have now drafted recommendations and are seeking feedback before finalizing.

Thank you for your question. While transit is outside of the scope of the project, the draft report recognizes the importance of comfortable transit stops and the integration with active transportation infrastructure. Access to transit stops within the area could be improved through the active transportation improvements.

The draft recommendations are for multi-use pathways rather than sidewalks or bike lanes, which could accommodate pedestrians and cyclists. An important part of shared pathways will be etiquette signage such as 'keep right' and 'pass slow and with care' to reduce the likelihood of conflicts between modes. More information is shown in the "Summary Boards" or "Draft Report".

Thank you for your question. The portion of Lee Road north of Highway 19A is identified in the report as part of the Multi-Use Pathway Network, which would connect with the Lee Road Community Trail and the rest of the active transportation network south of the Lee Road / Highway 19A intersection. The 'Issues and Places' map have been updated with this network as well (Here is the Link).

Thank you for your question. While transit is not a mode of active transportation, we recognize that people must travel by active transportation to access transit services. The draft active transportation report does acknowledge that these stops could be improved through the active transportation improvements. We will share this comment with RDN Transit Services and consider if the recommendations in the report provides clear direction for integration of transit stops with the active transportation infrastructure.
