By agreeing below, I / we are committing to the following clean-burning pledge and acknowledging the conditions on the rebate:
1. I will only use my wood stove when at least one of the following conditions is met:
- Temperatures are below 5 degrees Celsius
- The power is out for more than 2 hours
- Other emergency situations
2. I commit to using my electric heat pump as the main source for heating my home.
3. I will apply clean burning practices such as:
- Using only seasoned wood (wood dried for at least six months).
- Splitting pieces to a maximum of 10-15 cm in size.
- Maintaining the appliance and chimney regularly.
- Following the manufacturer’s guide when using my wood appliances.
- Not burning garbage, treated or painted wood, driftwood, Styrofoam, plastics and other prohibited material (Link to Prohibited Materials Burning Factsheet).
4. I will provide my approximate firewood use (cords, pickup loads, etc.) for last year to the program coordinator by filling out the mandatory Provincial Survey as part of my rebate application.
5. I will record my firewood use for the year following installation of the heat pump and provide that information to the local program coordinator (The RDN will follow up to get this information from participants in 1 year).
