Construction of the Phase 2 improvements in Dunsmuir Community Park is now complete!

The Phase Two improvements at Dunsmuir Community Park include new playground areas, paved paths, benches, picnic tables, a shade structure, and tree plantings.

This project is funded jointly by the Regional District of Nanaimo and by the federal and provincial governments through an Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program grant.

    We are very happy to say that Dunsmuir Community Park is now open and ready to enjoy! Come and check out the new playgrounds, paths, benches, shade structure and more. We are very grateful for all of the input, support, and patience from the community throughout the planning and construction of the project.

    Construction work at Dunsmuir Community Park continues. The anticipated project completion date has been extended to end of April, 2022 due to challenges in obtaining materials.

    Thank you for your patience during construction. As a reminder, the park remains closed to public use until the work is complete.

    Construction work at Dunsmuir Community Park continues in 2022. With the difficult weather we experienced in the fall of 2021, the anticipated project completion date has been extended to March 31, 2022.

    Despite the challenging weather in the fall, the contractor has completed the rough grading of the site, installation of a drainage system for the playground areas, and construction of the concrete curb borders for the playground.

    Work will resume at the end of January 2022. Next steps in the project include installing the playground equipment, concrete pathways, a shade structure, picnic tables, and various shades trees throughout the park.

    Work at Dunsmuir Community Park will begin on Tuesday, October 12 and is expected to be complete in January 2022. The park will be closed to the public during this time to ensure everyone's safety.
