CLOSED: This survey has concluded.
Thank you to everyone who provided their input on potential future improvements to Maple Lane Community Park. A summary of the survey results can be found here and in the Documents section of this page.
Highlights from the Fall 2023 survey results include: playground expansion (39 votes), covered picnic shelter (33 votes) paved sport court (21 votes) keeping the park natural (15 comments) and levelling the open field area (12 comments).
Based on the survey results, a draft concept plan for the park was developed and is available here and in the Documents section of this page.
The draft plan shows proposed locations and typical sizes of park improvements. The concept plan does not imply that the improvements included in the design will proceed but helps to provide a general scale and size of the potential park improvements.
In May 2024, a resolution was passed at the Electoral Area G POSAC (Parks and Open Space Advisory Committee) and supported by the RDN Board:
It was moved and seconded that the draft Maple Lane Community Park concept design and plan be posted on the project Get Involved Page to allow community members the opportunity to provide input including further input on the appropriate level of infrastructure development given the desire expressed in the survey responses to keep the park natural, maintain the neighborhood character and limit the development of the park and that the responses be compiled and provided to the next Electoral Area G Parks and Open Space Advisory Committee meeting for recommendations.
To respond to the resolution, a new survey was developed to provide an opportunity for the community to give feedback on the draft concept plan, to help determine the appropriate level of development for the park and which park improvements, if any, to prioritize. This survey will be open until Friday, September 13, 2024.
The results of this survey will be presented at the Electoral Area G Parks and Open Spaces Advisory Committee (POSAC) meeting on October 7, 2024.
