When will the new parking lot be finished?
The goal is for the new parking lot to be constructed and open for the summer of 2019.
Why won't the parking lot be constructed by this summer?
Parks staff are busy working on several components of this project with the goal of having it open as soon as possible. Once the property is transferred to the RDN in January 2018, then work can begin to remove the existing house and other site preparation work. In the meantime, staff are speaking with various parties to clarify parking lot size and trail-routing from this new trailhead. With this information, the parking lot design can be completed. The project will then be tendered and construction can begin following the RDN Board's approval to proceed.
