The photo contest has ended! Thank you all who contributed and participated!
Our RDN Photo Contest closed on August 31 and featured an array of stunning photos. From neighbouring islands and cityscapes to wildlife and people enjoying our great outdoors, participants captured the diversity and beauty of our region. Over 200 photos showcased the best of the RDN and the exceptional photography skills of our residents. From an incredible selection of photos from so many talented individuals, we are pleased to announce the winning photographers and photos:
Enjoying Our Great Outdoors: Sunset Paddle in Nanoose by Tracy L.
My Hometown: Alone, Shack Island by Gordon P.
Going Green: Local Organic Honey by Angie O.
Your Region(Youth): Neck Point Park by Finn H.
People’s Choice Award: A Chinook’s Lunch by Saffron C.
All category winners will receive a $100 gift card to a local business of their choice. In addition, all photographers were entered into a draw. The winner of the $100 gift card draw prize is David A.
Thank you to all who submitted photos, as well as to those who voted for their favourite images. The RDN hosts the public photo contest every other year so photographers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to continue taking photos throughout the region.
We already know our region is beautiful, now we want you to show us! If you enjoy taking photos throughout the Regional District of Nanaimo, here’s your chance to share your shutterbug skills.
We are hosting a summer photo contest, and winning images will be selected for publication on our website, social media, public reports, promotional materials and more.

Why are we using getinvolved.rdn.ca? This application allows for thumbnails to be uploaded and easily viewed. It ensures all photos are appropriate before they are posted. And it includes a voting function that makes it possible to involve the community in selecting their favourites.
Why does it reference 'Ideas'? We adapted the Ideas tool to support the photo contest. When it asks you for your idea and a description, give your photo a name and a location.
Can I email my photos? Unfortunately large emails are a problem for our email system. If you are unable to upload your submission, please email us at inquiries@rdn.bc.ca.
Don't forget to 'activate' your Get Involved RDN account. Once you register, watch for an email from the system inviting you to activate your account. Your account needs to be activated in order to upload files.
Keep it nice! Photos that contain objectionable or inappropriate content will be removed at the discretion of the RDN.
