The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) has received a request for a resolution for a proposed Non-Medical Cannabis Retail Store License. The applicant intendsto establish a provincially licensed store within an existing building on property located at 1824 Cedar Road in Cedar. The subject property (see Project Image below) is currently zoned Commercial 2 (CM2) in "Regional District of Nanaimo Land Use and Subdivision Bylaw No. 500, 1987" (Bylaw 500).
The legal sale of cannabis is considered a retail use and the existing CM2 zoning on the property includes 'Retail Store' as a permitted principal use (see Document Library). In order to proceed with the Non-Medical Cannabis Retail Store, the applicant has requested a resolution of support from the Regional Board to be provided to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch as part of the ongoing application process with the Province.
