The RDN is currently looking for your input on zoning amendment application PL2019-081.

4299 Biggs Road and 7155 Weigles Road

The RDN has received a temporary use permit application for the properties legally described as Lot A, Section 19, Range 1, Mountain District, Plan VIP76600 and Section 19, Range 2, Mountain District, Except the South 9 Chains of Said Section. The subject property 4299 Biggs Road and 7155 Weigles Road is zoned Resource Management 2, Subdivision District V (RM2V) (see Document Library), which allows a range of rural uses including agriculture, aquaculture, asphalt batch plant, extraction use, log storage and sorting yard, primary processing, residential use, silviculture and wood waste disposal facility. The subject property 3743 and 3751 Bell Road is zoned Agriculture 1, Subdivision District D (AG1D) (see Document Library), which allows agriculture and residential use.

The purpose of the proposed permit is to recognize the current operation of a recycling facility and gravel mart on the property for a period of three years. Other than disposal of construction wood, clean wood, brush and roofing materials, the recycling facility cannot accept additional materials under the current RM2V zone, therefore the owner has applied for a temporary use permit to allow recycling of additional materials. The temporary use permit would be an interim measure to allow the facility to continue to accept a range of materials for recycling prior to a zoning amendment application being submitted. For the adjacent property, the temporary use permit will only apply west of Benson Creek which reflects the existing location of the facility.

Thank you for the question. The applicant has confirmed there are no plans for accepting food waste at the facility.

Thank you for your question. The proposal does not include plans for the processing of food waste. Zoning currently allows a wood waste disposal facility (including land clearing wood waste) and the proposed temporary use permit would allow recycling facility (or the acceptance of other materials).
