The RDN has received an application to amend the “Regional District of Nanaimo Land Use and Subdivision Bylaw No. 500, 1987” for property located at 2935 Trans-Canada Highwayin Electoral Area A.
The subject property, legally described as Lot 11, Section 4, Range 7, Cranberry District, Plan 2700, is currently split zoned Rural 4 (RU4), Subdivision District 'D' and Industrial 2 (IN2) Subdivision District 'Z' and are both designated 'Industrial' in the OCP. The purpose of the application is change the zoning of the (RU4 D) portion of the subject property from Rural 4 (RU4), Subdivision District ‘D’ (2.0 hectare minimum parcel size) to Industrial 2 (IN2), Subdivision District ‘Z’ (no further subdivision), under the “Regional District of Nanaimo Land Use and Subdivision Bylaw No. 500, 1987”.
If the application is successful, the intent is to expand the existing steel fabrication business beyond the current IN2 zoned portion, see map to the left.
