RDN Budget Talks

Thank you for completing the 2025-2029 Financial Plan Priorities survey. It was brought to our attention that we made an error when running the survey summary report. The report shared with the board on July 23, 2024, RDN Budget Talks page and shared via email to those connected to the page, included responses from June 08-July 07 only. As the survey ran from May 28-June 05 there were 9 responses missing. We apologize for the error in missing these responses and wanted to bring this to your attention. We have uploaded a copy of the accurate and complete 2025-2029 Financial Plan Priorities survey summary, which includes all comments in the background documents, click here to view it.

We are committed to transparently sharing all responses received with the RDN board and public in a timely and accurate manner. To remedy our error and to ensure both the Board and the public receive all of the responses as well as an explanation of the error made, we have updated the RDN Budget Talks page with the correct information and an explanation of the error.

Maintaining public trust is of utmost importance to the Regional District of Nanaimo and our staff. We again apologize for this error and are committed to reviewing our process to see if there are any improvements that can be made to ensure this does not happen in the future.

Thank you to those that shared their thoughts by completing our recent survey to provide your priorities for the 2025-2029 Financial Plan. The results were presented to the RDN Board on July 23, 2024. The 2025-2029 Financial Plan What We Heard Engagement Summary can be viewed in our background documents here and the staff report here.

The public are invited to share their priorities for the 2025-2029 financial plan that will then be summarized and presented to the RDN Board to consider. Complete the one question online survey by July 5, 2024.

The Amended 2024-2028 Financial Plan was approved by the Board March 26, 2024.

The Amended Budget and Property Tax Summaries documents are presented for each Electoral Area and municipality within the Regional District of Nanaimo. These documents provide details of services for your area of where the money comes from and where the money goes.

Earlier this year the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) provided an opportunity for the public to provide feedback on priorities for our 2024-2028 Financial Plan. The results of the survey were recently shared with the RDN Board at the November 7th Special Board meeting. The results can be found here if you are interested in reviewing the responses.

The RDN Board wants to hear your thoughts on what priorities it should consider for the 2024-2028 budget. Submit your input here by Friday, July 14, 2023.

The RDN's 2024-2028 Financial Plan is planned to be presented to the Board in November and December. Upon approval by the Board, the budget schedule will be posted online and shared with the public.
