The RDN has received a temporary use permit application for a portion the property legally described as Lot A, of Lot 92, Newcastle District, Plan 2323 Except That Part Outlined in Red on Plan 3345 RW and Except Part in Plan 1357RW and VIP52254. The subject property is zoned Forestry / Resource 1 (FR-1) (see Document Library), which allows a dwelling unit, agriculture, log storage and sorting yard, primary mineral processing, silviculture, and wood processing.
The purpose of the proposed permit is to allow an ATV practice and training facility, and accessory campground on the subject property for a period of three years. The proposed ATV track and accessory campground will also require a licence of occupation from the Province of BC.

Thank you for your question. After our deadline of may 19, we will post all comments received on the application and we will prepare the application for consideration by the Electoral Area Services Committee. You can send in comments through this website under the "Application Input" tab or send us an email at planning@rdn.bc.ca. You may still provide feedback after may 19, though we may not be able to get all comments received after this date to the Electoral Area Services Committee and RDN Board in their consideration of the application.
There will not be a formal access from Island Highway 19A. The logging road to the site is accessed from either Melrose Road (in Electoral Area F) or Claymore Road in (in Electoral Area G).

The RDN Board has directed that a public information meeting be held to receive comments from the public on the application. The meeting is schedule for Monday September 11, 2023 at 6 pm at the Arrowsmith Hall (1014 Ford Road, Coombs, BC).
